Question : Three sets of Science, History and Drawing books have to be stacked in such a way that all the books are stored topic wise and the height of each stack is the same. The number of Science books is 192, the number of History books is 480 and the number of Drawing books is 672. Assuming that the books are of the same thickness, determine the number of stacks of Science, History and Drawing books.

No. of Science Books = 192

No. of History Books = 480

No. of Drawing Books = 672


No. of Books in each stack = HCF (192,480,672)

192 = 26×3
480 = 25×3×5
672 = 25×3×7

HCF = 25×3
         = 32×3
         = 96 

∴ No. of Books in each stack = 96


No. of stacks of Science Books = 192/96 = 2
No. of stacks of History Books = 480/96 = 5
No. of stacks of Drawing Books = 672/96 = 7
